Darby Hobbs – Spiritual Author, Artist – her passion is to create positive change in our world through ‘Story Art.’ www.darbyhobbs.com, #darbyhobbs22 (Instagram), darby@darbyhobbs.com As a producer of children’s books, Darby focuses key messages on how to make the world a better place. The stories produced speak of love, peace, acceptance, hope, kindness, inclusion and so much more. Her sister, Karen Kishibay does all the illustrations in original watercolors, bringing her words to life! Darby’s purpose in writing is to move the reader on an exploration of their soul. Her books are clearly for all ages! She has performed at First Night Chatham, done many readings and book signings throughout Cape Cod and off Cape. Darby’s words are written from her heart. Her tremendous imagination whips words into magic that allow the reader to see life from a different perspective. In her stories, she shares how finding one’s purpose is so important, being seen truly for who you are and what beauty you bring to the world, applying this into your decisions as you grow and learn and making a difference by what you value - in effect to Color the World in LoveTM. Her roots as a teacher have served her well throughout her career and play an important role in sharing stories that entice young minds to explore life and events around them, seeing what could be if one applied a little Magic, Imagination and Creativity. Magic is who you are - your unique self Imagination is how you innovate and see things with a new perspective Creativity, is how you and others engage to create value in the lives of others – making the world a better place. Her first book, Hockey Island, was published in 2019, which is about a magical island where it snows all day long every day and to live there you must bring your imagination! Her second book, The Tail of Grace & Kristoff, was published in 2022 and it shares the love and friendship between a musical unicorn and a pig. An unlikely pair, but their story unfolds and their bond strengthens as the story grows. After a long and distinguished career in the investment industry, Darby developed and taught courses on Social Entrepreneurship and Impact Investing at Boston University and Bridgewater State University, Darby allowed students to explore and understand their purpose and how this forms their value structure and thus decision making – all creating the ‘Designs of Their Life.’ As a mentor to colleagues, undergraduate and graduate students at Boston College and other universities, Darby has expanded the vision of many that she has interacted with for she personifies the elegance of a thinker, the bravery of a strategist and the creativity and imagination of an artist. All blended together this provides a unique perspective and kaleidoscope of ideas that come freely and naturally to her and thus to her reader. She has served on many advisory boards, graduate social impact competitions and co-founded the Conscious Capitalism Chapter of Boston and served as President for two years. She is a member of the National League of American Pen Women, Cape Cod Art Center, Arts Foundation of Cape Cod, Cape Cod & Islands Art Educators Association, Cape Cod Museum of Art, Sandwich Arts Alliance, Sandwich Chamber of Commerce and the Cape Cod Reading Council. She hopes her stories fill your homes and loved ones with new perspectives and bring much peace.
